Here are a few bread and muffin recipes the kids love...grownups, too!! Enjoy!!

Soft Breadsticks

1-1/4 cups all purpose flour

2 teaspoons sugar

1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

2/3 cup milk

3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted

2 teaspoons sesame seeds

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a small bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Gradually add milk and stir to form a soft dough. Turn onto a floured surface, knead gently 3-4 times. Roll into a 10x5x1/2 inch rectangle and cut into 12 breadsticks. Place butter in a 13x9x2 inch backing pan. Place breadsticks in the butter and turn to coat. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake at 450 degrees for 14-18 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm. Yeild: 1 dozen

Chocolate Chip Mini-Muffins

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup shortening

1 egg

1/4 cup milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

2/3 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, cream sugar and shortening until fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla and mix well. Combine dry ingredients. Gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Fold in chocolate chips. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of batter into each greased or paper-lined mini-muffin cup. Bake at 375 degrees for 1-=13 minutes or until muffins test done. Cool in pan 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack. Yield: about 3 dozen
